We are seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Technologist with long-term career goals for employment in a collaborative team environment.

As an Intermediate Technologist  in our Vancouver, British Columbia office your responsibilities will include:

  • Design and detail production drawings and schedules from concept through to construction, effectively implementing the knowledge of building codes, building systems, wall, roof and floor assembly technology and other fundamental technology.
  • Understand and demonstrate a knowledge of proper drafting standards, techniques, and conventions
  • Work with, and explain, drafting conventions and standards to junior personnel.
  • Responsible to work on site independently for minor projects and with assistance for major projects.
  • Generate a thorough set of construction documents.
  • Coordinate information from consultants and designers.
  • Assist designers with product/material research and work with junior and senior personnel to resolve technical and design issues.
  • Work towards a full understanding of bidding process including different types of construction contracts.
  • Seek opportunities to reduce or control costs while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain a level of quality with work that is in line with standards of the company, using an understanding of design and flagging inconsistencies.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the assembly of construction documentation sets and Building Permit packages for small to medium sized projects
  • Coordinate with Design Staff regarding transition from design to construction drawings
  • Communicate with engineering consultants and coordinate drawings in conjunction with Project leader
  • Review and become knowledgeable of engineering drawings
  • Assist in preparation of Building Permits
  • Communicate and correspond with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction, clients, and consultants.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn about new products and understand how they can be incorporated into new projects.
  • Participate in design solutions for large projects within the firm
  • Ability to champion the design and development of small and medium sized projects within the firm
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the DP process and a basic understanding of the land use and subdivision process
  • Have experience with the preparation, submission, and follow through of a Development Permit application
  • Have experience with the preparation and submission of a Land Use application
  • Demonstrate a general knowledge of structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines as they relate to building design.
  • Ability to understand the essence of the situation and generate notions, options or strategies appropriate and specific to the task.
  • Prepare and review design reports
  • Able to direct a small project (with minimum guidance)

 

Skills

  • Drafting
  • Proficiency with Revit software 2D and 3D
  • Accuracy and speed with attention to detail
  • Flexible in tasks relating to design and technical drawing
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign as minimum)
  • Knowledge of rendering software programs / techniques
  • Able to draw and write with clarity.
