September 12, 2017 – Toronto - The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and Canada Council for the Arts invite media to attend the Moriyama RAIC International Prize Gala press conference to meet the 2018 Venice Biennale in Architecture Canadian Presenter and the Moriyama RAIC International Prize Finalists.

What?

The Canada Council for the Arts will announce the 2018 Venice Biennale in Architecture Canadian presenter. The presenter will be available for interviews.

Representatives of the four shortlisted projects for the $100,000 Moriyama RAIC International Prize will be available for interviews. The projects are:

About the Moriyama RAIC International Prize

Raymond Moriyama, FRAIC, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and the RAIC Foundation created the Moriyama RAIC International Prize in 2014 to raise the international stature of the RAIC and the Canadian architectural profession, and to encourage Canadian architects to aspire to international excellence. The Moriyama RAIC International Prize is awarded every two years. It consists of a monetary award of CAD $100,000 and a sculpture designed by Canadian designer Wei Yew.

About Venice Biennale in Architecture

The Venice Biennale in Architecture is the most important and prestigious exhibition in contemporary architecture. Architects, artists, designers, planners, builders, politicians, students and cultural leaders from around the world are among the more than 300,000 visitors expected to attend the 2018 Biennale with the intention of discovering the cutting edge of architecture and architectural discourse.Doubling its previous investment and enhancing international exposure, the Canada Council will make a contribution of $500,000 towards the presenter’s exhibition.
