The Project & Facilities Standards Coordinator role is a key technical and systems leadership role on a dynamic Design & Construction team. The role is based at A&W’s Corporate Home Office in North Vancouver, near Lonsdale Quay and with easy access to the Sea Bus and other public transit. Within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary context, the Project & Facilities Standards Coordinator is responsible for developing, reviewing, updating and maintaining prototype Facilities Standards drawings, and for managing related budgets and systems, for the A&W brand in Canada. The role has a mandate to ensure that A&W’s drawing standards are in a format compatible with current and evolving industry software and standard drawing practices. This multi-faceted role involves translating concept drawings to detailed drawings, technical construction problem-solving, product sourcing and evaluation, document management, preparing and analyzing construction budgets for prototypical drawings, and developing recommendations for product and design innovation. The Project & Facilities Standards Coordinator also provides direct project assistance to Project Managers.
The Project & Facilities Standards Coordinator reports to the Director of Design & Construction. The role works closely with the Director, the Vice-President, Marketing, Concept Innovation, Design & Construction, other members of the Design & Construction team, as well as with representatives of A&W’s Equipment Services and Operations teams, the Facilities Committee and external suppliers and consultants.
The candidate must possess excellent architectural drafting and detailing skills (millwork and construction) and strong knowledge of standard construction practices and materials. An excellent problem-solver and pro-active organizer with the ability to both lead and be hands-on, the candidate must have the proven talent to remain calm under pressure and to work effectively with others to meet deadlines in a busy commercial setting. The candidate must have the ability to anticipate the impacts of decisions at both a project and organizational level. A team player and collaborator, the ideal candidate has a knack for influencing others and for keeping an eye on trends that will impact facilities design and construction. With sound knowledge of office systems and procedures, the candidate must have strong knowledge of, and expertise in, using drafting tools such as AutoCAD and related graphics and desktop publishing software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PageMaker. The candidate must have the ability to be assertive and diplomatic and possess a fine eye for detail while maintaining the big picture perspective. The candidate must bring a positive mindset to resolving issues with others and the demonstrated ability to achieve deadlines. The ideal candidate is resilient, has a strong sense of personal accountability and the confidence necessary to implement innovation. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter with high energy, a passion for translating concepts to detailed drawings and the ability to improve office systems and procedures. The candidate must have completed a post-secondary degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural or Building Technology, or Design and at least 5 years of related technical experience.
