Les inscriptions sont fermées pour cet événement.
For the month of March, the RAIC is pleased to present a weekly series on the subject of Adaptive Reuse.

Title: The Role of Heritage in Adaptive Reuse Projects
Date: March 13, 2019
Experience Level:
General
Presenter: Michael McClelland, OAA AAA RAIC CAHP

The course will focus on the development of standards and guidelines for heritage properties and the understanding of how those guidelines affect decision-making in the process of design and adaptive-reuse.  These guidelines, although specified for designated heritage properties, allow designers to think creatively about the reuse of any older structure. The course will reference international charters and the Parks Canada Standards and Guidelines and will be illustrated by adaptive reuse projects undertaken by ERA Architects in collaboration with many players in the Toronto design community.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the completion of this session, the participant/learner will be able to:

  • Describe approaches to adaptive reuse
  • Address the concerns of approval authorities
  • Summarize the basic principles of heritage conservation
  • Understand the role of sustainability in design

Continuing education learning hours: 1 credit
