The RAIC hosted its first National Forum in Vancouver on August 21. The all-day event featured presentations by RAIC President, Michael Cox, CEO Mike Brennan, as well as a panel session with Mark Vernon (CEO Architectural Institute of British Columbia), Jennifer Cutbill (RAIC board member) and Darryl Condon, FRAIC, managing partner at HCMA. Among the attendees were RAIC members, architects, interns, and members of the public. Presentation topics included an update on the upcoming implementation of a federated chapter model for RAIC, information on the new professional liability insurance program for architects, a review of RAIC events and activities, an update from AIBC as well as an update on the National Architectural Policy for Canada. In addition, two special guests joined the event: Vancouver City Councillor Hector Bremner welcomed guests on behalf of the City of Vancouver and MLA Jane Thornthwaite met with delegates. We would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in the event. Stay tuned as RAIC organizes more National Forums across Canada in Fall/Winter 2018.
