“Our goal is to offer members another opportunity to showcase Canadian architects and architecture by increasing our presence at Canada’s premier design show,” said David Craddock, FRAIC, Architecture Canada | RAIC President. “By being involved in the programming and having the opportunity to shape Con Ed, we will enhance the offering for Architects and highlight the central role that architecture plays in design.”
The expansion at IIDEX is in addition to the annual Festival of Architecture - this year’s takes place June 12-16 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, organized in partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Architects. Planning is also already underway to present the 2013 edition in Halifax, followed by Winnipeg in 2014. |

The final regional exhibitions open in early February in Winnipeg (The Forks Market) and Toronto (Brookfield Place Galleria). All regional winners advance to the National exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in March/April 2012, where a national jury (Eleanor Bond, Ian Chodikoff, FRAIC, Anne Cormier, Bruce Kuwabara, FRAIC, and John Patkau, FRAIC) will select the young, architectural “Team Canada” to represent Canada at the 2012 Venice Biennale in Architecture.
Our fundraising campaign to support the “Migrating Landscapes” competition and exhibitions in Canada and Venice is going gangbusters, thanks to the generosity of our many sponsors and donors. Between cash, grants, and in-kind donations we have raised almost 80% of our overall $1,000,000 budget. Now we need your help to close the gap!
Please donate $100, $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 or more! You can donate online or by contacting the RAIC’s Venice Biennale Project Manager, Sascha Hastings, at shastings@raic.org or 416-934-1595. All donors receive visibility on the Migrating Landscapes website and exhibition sponsor walls, invitations to fabulous events, and a charitable tax receipt from the RAIC Foundation.
Please join the community of architects, developers, builders, trades and other organizations and individuals who are supporting this exciting initiative that generates and showcases new work by young Canadian architects and designers! Help support our next generation in their dream to show their work at the ‘Olympics of Architecture’!
