 This project kick-starts the development of a large urban wasteland area where rehabilitation is slow to get going. The project is intended to generate new formal and spatial hybrid systems to stimulate new social dynamics of exchange and sharing and create new urban forms.
The whole falls within the scope of an extension of the city’s structuring lines, the typical island site, with a view to creating a new grid whose intersections become signage elements. By superimposing this new grid on the area’s infrastructures, new spatial conditions emerge to allow interaction between the two. These spatial conditions take the form of a new topography in the city, a new public expanse where boundaries can be traversed and communities reconnected.

“This work is comprehensive, multi-faceted and large in scope. [The student’s] proposal for urban repair brings attention to difficult sites that need a lot of attention. It’s really a very strong project, touching on many areas: landscape, architecture, views, building form, public space, transport, access. [This student project shows] good analysis, and a high degree of complexity.” |
