RAIC Awards of Excellence


The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada would like to acknowledge the support of McGraw-Hill Construction, sponsor of the RAIC Awards of Excellence.


2005 RAIC Awards of Excellence Recipients

Allied Arts Awards

The Allied Arts Award recognizes outstanding creative achievement in the arts in any medium, which are allied to architecture; eg. mural paintings, sculpture, photography, decoration, stained glass, industrial design, etc. for an individual's artwork in Canada created by a Canadian resident, or for artwork anywhere created by a Canadian artist.

In celebration of the revival of the RAIC Allied Arts Medal,
the Jury awarded two medals for 2005.

Innovation in Architecture Awards

The Innovation in Architecture Award recognizes research and development, the applied use of new technology, unique adaptation of existing technology, new project delivery methods, new design processes, new details or the development of new methods related to the construction process.

The RAIC would like to acknowledge sponsors of the Innovation in
Architecture Awards - the Institute for Research in Construction of the
National Research Council of Canada and Morrison Hershfield.

The Jury agreed to bestow a total of seven medals in this category for 2005:


Advocate for Architecture Awards

The Advocate for Architecture Award recognizes an individual who has contributed to the elevation of architecture in the public realm by means other than the practice of Architecture. It also recognizes long-term commitment to and support for the profession of architecture in Canada, at the national, regional or local level. To be eligible the person must be nominated by five RAIC members.


Architectural Firm Awards

The Architectural Firm Award recognizes an architectural firm or practice that has consistently produced distinguished architecture. Also recognizes achievement of the firm for its quality of architecture, its services to its clients, its innovations in practice, its contributions to architectural education, professional associations and the public.

The distinction was awarded to three great Canadian Architectural firms:
