Comments:
This was not easy
to assess from an overall performance standpoint, however, it incorporates
a fully realized "living wall" with the involvement of a research
group at Guelph University which theorized the idea some years ago. More
than just a demonstration project, the scale of the green wall with its
sophisticated use of water and related supporting system designed to contribute
significantly to a high level of indoor air quality was judged significant
from a research viewpoint.
The Bio-filtration wall in particular corresponds to the award criteria
in the purest sense, accepting risks associated with emerging technologies
while trying to address the challenges of sustainability, advancing our
knowledge of these systems towards developing better designs. This project
provides robust technological innovation with research applications potential.
