RAIC Architectural Firm Award
This award is to recognize an architectural firm or practice that has consistently produced distinguished architecture. The award recognizes the achievements of the firm for its quality of architecture, its service to its clients, its innovations in practice, contributions to architectural education and to professional institutions and associations and public recognition.
Evaluation Criteria:
The following criteria shall be used in the selection:
- Quality of Built Work
- Quality shall be assessed by awards and publications. National awards and publications shall be given greater weight than local awards and publications. Only the work of current principals shall be judged.
- Quality of Professional Services
- Innovation in Practice
- Contribution to Architectural Education
- Service to the Profession
- Evidence of Sustainable Design Principles
Submission Fee:
$300 plus applicable taxes
Eligibility:
Architectural firms or architectural practices which are
resident in Canada or have their principal office located
in Canada, and possess the appropriate Certificate of Practice
or authorization to practice as required by the provincial
licensing authorities, and who have been together as an
organization or as successor firm for at least ten years
Submission Requirements:
Each submission must be
in a standard, 3 ring, black binder (orientation portrait)
accepting 8 1/2" x 11" sheets. Each submission may
not exceed a maximum of 25 pages and should include the following
material in this order:
- Completed submission form
[60 KB] with payment;
- A report which summarizes the contributions of the firm
to the field of architecture (not to exceed five pages). The
report should cover significant contributions related to the
quality of architectural services, innovation, education and
community;
- List of the firm's significant architectural projects since
1990;
- Background information such as awards, media clippings,
publications, copies of articles from journals, etc.;
- A numerical index listing all images and providing full
credit information;
- Two CD-ROMs containing a maximum of 40 electronic images representing
the firm's work, which will include projects completed during
the last ten years or more (view the technical
guidelines for submitting electronic material);
- A signed declaration
[108 KB] by the RAIC member.
All submission materials must be included electronically in PDF format
on a CD-ROM.
All winning entries will be kept by the RAIC for publication, exhibition and archival purposes. Unsuccessful entries will not be returned.

All submissions must be received by the RAIC office before
4:00 p.m., December 11, 2009. Entrants are solely responsible for timely submissions. This date is firm without exception.
